Jorgen Grindevoll at KORMARINE 2025

SafeNav is proud to represent UK maritime innovation at KORMARINE 2025 in Busan, South Korea, as part of Innovate UK’s Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) 🇬🇧🇰🇷

The delegation brings together leading UK maritime technology companies focused on advancing digitalisation, autonomy, and sustainable operations. Through this programme, SafeNav will join a week of meetings, technical exchanges, and industry events designed to strengthen collaboration between the UK and South Korea’s world-class shipbuilding and research ecosystem.

🌊 Why KORMARINE Matters

KORMARINE is Asia’s largest international maritime exhibition - a global meeting point for shipbuilders, naval organisations, maritime R&D centres, and technology innovators. Held biennially in Busan, it attracts thousands of industry leaders shaping the next generation of maritime technology.

For SafeNav, the event represents a key opportunity to engage directly with shipyards, research institutions like KRISO (Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering), and government representatives. South Korea’s strong focus on smart shipbuilding, autonomy, and digital bridge systems aligns perfectly with SafeNav’s mission to make navigation safer, smarter, and more connected.

🚢 Our Mission in Busan

Throughout the GBIP programme, SafeNav CEO Jørgen Grindevoll will meet with shipyards, research partners, and industry stakeholders to explore how SafeNav’s Decision Support System (DSS) can integrate into both commercial and naval applications.

The SafeNav DSS fuses radar, AIS, GNSS, and camera data into one intuitive view - delivering real-time, COLREG-compliant maneuver advice and reducing navigator stress and cognitive load. The system has been validated through European sea trials (TRL 7) under Horizon Europe, demonstrating strong reliability and performance for crew decision-support and future autonomous operations.

SafeNav’s participation at KORMARINE builds on its growing international collaborations in Europe and the Americas, now expanding to Asia’s leading maritime technology hub.

🤝 Collaboration and Partnership Opportunities

SafeNav is actively seeking partnerships with:

  • Shipyards exploring integrated bridge and autonomy solutions

  • Naval and defense organisations focusing on safe semi-autonomous navigation

  • Research institutions advancing AI, sensor fusion, and maritime situational awareness

  • Training centres adopting human-centric decision-support tools

Our goal is to collaborate, co-develop, and tailor SafeNav for both commercial fleets and naval operations, supporting South Korea’s wider digital transformation and innovation objectives.
